Timothy M. Sweet, Esq. is an only child who grew up in Woonsocket and Warwick, R.I. What he remembers most about his childhood is playing hockey, watching movies with his dog Midnight, and generally blowing off his homework. Today he is a happily-married attorney and author living in Pawtucket, R.I. He graduated from Bishop Hendricken High School near the top of his class in 2001, from Providence College in 2005, and from Roger Williams University School of Law in 2008. Prior to opening The Law Office of Timothy M. Sweet, LLC in Barrington, R.I.
Such a tough call when to call it quits in a relationship. Timothy Sweets cautioned that if you have to ask if it’s over…it’s not. When it’s over you can feel like a fool. Or sometimes we make foolish decisions because we are blinded by love. Timothy has seen it all through the years of his career as a divorce attorney. On the morning of this interview, he met with previous clients. These clients had been divorced from his services. They got remarried and had another child together. But this morning, he was seeing them to help with their second divorce! Makes you wonder how much money they could have saved by trying to work through things the first time.
Unfortunately, Timothy has a lot of business waiting for him. His advice was to think of what you can’t live without and then go to court with those non-negotiables. This will save time and money and a lot less billable hours!! And whatever you do cherish your children and realize they are here because of the love you once had with your spouse. “You are not allowed to hate your ex-spouse more than you love your child” from one of the judges in the RI family court.
