Do you make New Years resolutions? Does if feel like it gives you a fresh start or hope for a better year? Do your goals and dreams seem closer? Or do they feel further away?
If you stick to your resolutions, those dreams and goals will not only feel closer, they will BE closer! But despite this a study in 1989 showed that only about 8% of people actually stick to their New Year’s resolutions. But even if a small % actually do what they resolved to do at the beginning of the year why wouldn’t you at least try?
Sometimes life gets in our way. We get into a funk and we forget all about them as we become despondent or dare I say even just get lazy!

Resolutions with no action plan is like choosing a destination with no mode of transportation. You wouldn’t just jump in your car and start driving and expect to magically get there, would you? Be realistic with where you are now and create an action plan that you can work towards each day for a few minutes a day, and over time you will get there!
Another reason could be that it wasn’t realistic to begin with. You may have all the good intentions in the world, but if you cannot realistically be successful in reaching your goal you will not only set yourself up for failure but damage your psyche in the process making future goal setting even more difficult.
Don’t give up to easily if you experience a setback. You might need to adjust your goal or the timing, but don’t throw in the towel!
Start where you are. Be realistic with what you can do but stretch yourself just a bit. Celebrate your mini goals you hit along the way. Take daily action. You are on your way!
